Team News: Madison Genesis 2019

In a massive scoop for Madison Genesis, former-team manager Hammond is set to return to the team in January 2019.

Since Hammond’s departure for Dimension Data, the team has ridden well for three seasons but there is a special air of excitement surrounding the return of the man that saw his squad win the Tour Series in 2015 as well as a top-10 result at the Tour de Yorkshire with Erick Rowsell.

Hammond’s reputation and pedigree in the sport is unquestionable and he has always maintained ties to Madison Genesis. He was announced as team manager in July 2012 and spent three successful years building the team from the ground up to the level it is now and re-takes the helm at an extremely exciting time for all involved.

On his return to Madison Genesis, Hammond said: “I am so excited to be returning to Madison Genesis. Back in 2012 when I was presented with the idea of the team, it immediately captured my imagination and has remained a project close to my heart ever since. I have kept a close eye on the team with immense amounts of pride over the last few years and cannot wait to get back involved and continue to build on the team’s fantastic reputation.”

CEO at Madison, Dominic Langan said: “I couldn’t be happier having Roger back as DS for Madison Genesis. Roger was key in the creation of the team back in 2012, he is a fantastic ambassador for our brands and the sport, as well a superb mentor for our riders. We have a brilliant working dynamic. He totally understands us, he gets what the team is all about and what we value which is so important because we are not the same as many other teams. Above all we are friends with a shared respect and passion for what we do.”

Madison Genesis will now switch focus to preparations for 2019. It was a memorable 2018 season which included Mike Cuming in the red jersey for the majority of the Tour de Yorkshire, Matt Holmes doing the same at the Tour of Britain and who could forget Connor Swift’s sensational British Championships victory in Northumberland.

The team have made new signings and strengthened their squad significantly rider wise as well. News of the rider line up will be exciting news to come …
