Home to the best bikes money can buy in Bournemouth and Poole, Primera Sports held their 7th free bike show (Expo) for the public in November which was a resounding success
News: Primera Sports Expo a Success
Now the dust has settled, Bill Temple – owner of Primera Sports – talked to VeloUK about their latest Expo.
The Primera Sports shops are a valued sponsor of VeloUK and Bill and his staff know the sport inside out. Their free bike expo’s are a popular destination for cycling fans all over the country with the best brands in the business all on display.
Bill explained “This year was our 7th Expo and during the lead up, everything seemed too smooth which might be a sign that we are getting used to it! Our suppliers were all fired up with hotels booked and a very impressive list of bikes attending.”
Asked, in this day and age of big bike shows which cost a pretty penny to attend, how his free bike expos began, he explained “we started the shows as a way of giving fellow cyclists a place to meet up and talk about their passion and it’s just grown year on year.”
The 2018 edition of the show in Bournemouth, on the country’s southern coast, saw the doors open at 10.00am and the queue to get in, started to build from 9.30. Bill says of this years edition, “It was a show we were proud of as some of the bikes were very special in the world of cycling. We had the Tour winning bike of Geraint Thomas, the brand new Pinarello Bolide. One of the Bianchi race bikes of Marco Pantani, vintage Specialized bikes including the race bike of Jason McRoy.”
The show also raised money for charity as Bill explained. “Our raffle this year raised £2600.00 which we distributed between Mental Health Charities and the Steve Bernard Sports Foundation. Raffle prizes included Bikes, Wheels, Clothing, Garmins, Training Plans, Sports massage, Shoes plus lots more great cycling accessories.”
In summing up, Bill added “we feel very privileged with having so many leading brands taking the trouble to drive hundreds of miles to attend and we really do appreciate their support. ”
As mentioned, the Primera Sports Expo is a free to enter show, so keep a look out for the 2019 date as Bill and his suppliers would love to see you there next year.
