News: Vitus Pro Cycling Derbyshire Ride

The weekend saw the 2019 roster of riders on the Vitus Pro Cycling p/b Brother UK team get together in Derbyshire for a meal and team ride

On Saturday, the riders came together for a team meal and general meet and greet with each other before on Sunday morning, getting their 2018 bikes out for a ride in the Derbyshire hills. The route was devised by the team’s former Hill Climb champion and Derbyshire resident, Adam Kenway.

He explained “the route was on my stomping ground over roads I have done so many times. It was nice and lumpy but not too brutal. I didn’t want any 20% kickers or they would have shouted at me!” Afterwards, asked how the ride went, he replied “the first hour was good and then the next two hours were pretty moist to say the least before we stopped in Buxton for a rider to get some keys. Then after that it was quite pleasant”.

Moist it certainly was and the thick fog saw the riders get quite damp and so the café stop in Buxton was a welcome one with hot coffee and the café even sticking some wet clothing in the tumble dryer so they could resume with dry clothing. It was however cold so there was pressure on the pedals to keep warm but nothing too aggressive as Adam explained “it was all very civilised with some time to chat and nobody pressed on as Chris kept them in check”.

The ride done, their race programmes in hand, the riders soon departed for all parts of the UK to resume their winter training before the racing kicks off ahead of their next get together in March in Spain.
