University of Sheffield/B38/Cycles in Motion 3/4 Road Race – Saturday 30th March 2019

The University of Sheffield ran their second 3/4 road race on a new course on the hills around Sheffield. This was set on what is now one of the hilliest courses for a regional event in the country. The start of the race was “harder than a hill climb” as quoted by the winner. From the flag riders were being dropped, and with only half the field remaining on lap 4 of 8, the field was blown to pieces leaving riders in groups no bigger than 3 all over the road. Archie Cross rode off from everyone to continue his early season success, and the last finisher came in over 25 minutes later.
