Bikes! Scott Ultimate Foil Limited Edition

Recently I had the good fortune to be asked to photograph a very special bike indeed; the SCOTT Foil Ultimate Disc Bike. There will be those who like to be different and have something no-one else does and this fits that goal perfectly with only 50 in the world, four in the UK and three are at the Cycle Division bike shop (52/54/56 sizes).

The heart of this very special bike is the carbon fibre frame using the top of the range HMX Carbon fibre which is designed to help you gain those extra precious seconds and comes in as one of the lightest, and stiffest frames, in the aero market.

Stage wins at all the Grand Tours, classic victories at Milan San Remo, Liege Bastogne Liege and Paris-Roubaix – Scott bikes say their FOIL is the most versatile aero bike on the market. With the SCOTT Foil Ultimate Disc’s the spec includes: Syncros integrated carbon handlebar system, SRAM’s brand new 12 speed AXS eTap drivetrain complete with Quarq Powermeter and Syncros Carbon components, this bike will help you win every ride. You certainly won’t see anyone else riding down the road on one or at least with only four in the UK, there is a very good chance of that!

The frame, in a glorious metallic one off Cherry Acid Red, has a replaceable drop out on the rear and the geometry is their road race spec so it’s built to be ridden quick. And the icing on the cake is that anyone purchasing the bike from Cycle Division (Barton-under-Needwood) can have a bike fit with Ex World Tour Pro Dan Fleeman as part of the price.

Here are the specs ….

Gearing: SRAM RED eTap AXS 24 Speed – Electronic

Talking to former An Post professional Kieran Frend, he gave an insight into the differences between this and a mechanical groupset. Because it’s electronic, the way the system changes gear, what lever does what and how quick, can be configured.

For example, you can use different buttons to shift up and down. Some people for instance will ask to have the left leaver take you up the cassette and the right leaver down it. And, if you press the buttons together, that can work the front mech. It is, says Kieran, very different to using a mechanical groupset and the speed of the shift is quicker with the speed the chain comes down the cassette for instance, able to also be configured.

Crankset: 48×35 T with integral SRAM RED AXS Power Meter – note the length of the crankset varies depending on the size of the bike. IE, the 52 will have 170mm and the two bigger frames will have 172mm cranks.

Cassette: SRAM RED XG-1290 – 10-33 sprockets

Wheels: Zipp 404 Disc Firecrest Carbon Clincher Tubeless with custom (only seen on this bike) chrome decals. The tyres are Schwalbe PRO ONE EVO, MICROSKIN 700x28C, FOLD, TL-EASY

Chain: SRAM RED

Handlebar & Stem: Syncros Carbon FOIL Aero Combo

Seatpost & saddle: Syncros FOIL aero Carbon seat post with Syncros saddle with carbon rails

Brakes: SRAM RED eTap AXS HRD Brake System with 160/F and 160/R mm SRAM Centerline XR Rotor (hydraulic) . Thru axel front and rear to increase the stiffness of the bike even more.

Cycle Division: Barton-under-Needwood, Burton-on-Trent DE13 8AA
