Report: South Staffordshire and Shropshire RR League
From Ben Goddard

Charles Walker (Sprint Tifosi RT) sprinted to victory in the second round of the South Staffordshire and Shropshire Road Race League. Walker, from Stourbridge, was part of an elite group of riders who competed for the victory after 33 miles involving four laps of the Six Ashes circuit near Bobbington.

The handicap format saw the scratch group, including Walker, catch a gap of nine minutes over the first group to start. Within the final lap the race came together and the pace up the final ascent of the Six Ashes climb saw the race fragment with a small group of 18 riders coming into the finish together.

On the flat finish Elite rider Walker was fastest and added the win to his tally of circuit race wins already this season. After finishing fourth in the first round last week James Ireson (Morvelo Basso RT) took a close second with his team-mate Ben Manfield-Yorke in third.

Yellow jersey wearer after his win the previous week Ben Joughin (Pro Vision Race Team) had to settle for 10th place on this occasion. First junior rider George Mills-Keeling (Cycle Club Bridgnorth RWG) took seventh place which was enough for him to gain the overall category lead.

Meanwhile Matthew Morris (Wolverhampton Whls) was first veteran in 13th place and took the overall category jersey. Rebecca Richardson was first woman home for the second week running taking 21st place.
