Rob Walker of Cambridge University won the Finsbury Park CC road race on Sunday with an attack on the last lap. Walker and eventual second place David Veitch, Lea Valley CC, clipped off the front with 4 four miles to go in the 59-mile 2/3/4 race in Rickling Green, Essex.

A dangerous seven-man group escaped at the start of the last lap but the breakaway was neutralised when an ambulance, unrelated to the race, came passed the riders. Walker attacked not long after, bringing Veitch with him but was too strong in the sprint. James Dent of Team PB Performance won the bunch sprint 15 seconds behind.

An attritional race over six laps of the Rickling Green circuit saw riders dropped behind while upfront no major attacks stuck until the last lap.
