News: Huub/Wattbike Ready for Biggest Challenges
Team Press Release
HUUB Wattbike have continued to grow for the 2019/20 track season as they take aim at the biggest records in track cycling. Vita Coco have joined the Derbados based squad to support their world record challenge. First up for the team is the Tissot UCI Track World Cup season, where they squarely target winning the overall series. The team will be at Minsk, Glasgow and Brisbane rounds with a focus on the team pursuit, but with John and Jacob representing in the individual pursuit and scratch races respectively.
Following this the team will take on the British National Track Cycling Championships in Manchester, then hopefully an opportunity at a world title in the individual pursuit before the crescendo of travelling to Cochabamba, Bolivia to attempt the team pursuit, individual pursuit and hour records. As a team pursuit team, the team pursuit record is the primary goal with the intention of sitting on the top of the time sheets at Tokyo Olympics as world record holders. What a fairytale ending that might be…
What the riders say …
Dan
With the UCI throwing us a nasty curveball this summer, there is the chance that this is our final season, so we are going in all guns blazing. We have brought onboard some amazing partners that have invested an incredible amount of time, effort and money in to providing the best support possible for us. I think this has been our best preparation ever with each of us physiologically in the greatest place we have ever been. It’s an exciting time and I can’t wait to kick those pedals round in Minsk.
John
It’s a rare opportunity being able to measure yourself against the world’s best in your sport, and this being my second year with the team gives me more confidence in what we’re capable of. If all goes to plan; we win everything and break all the world records, Dan will say that he always believed, and the rest of us will have had the best season ever.
Kyle
The season is fast approaching and I’m buzzing for it. To be part of such a unique team and heading to race the World Cups with them is a very special time for me.
Jonny
I’ve been saying this will be my last year for a while now, but this year looks like it will be thanks to the UCI. The world records at altitude is a daunting challenge which will be a nice way to finish things off on a high.
Will
I’m truly looking forward to the season ahead. It will be my first time racing at international track level, so it’s going to be a great step up for me. My form is better than it has ever been since joining the team and I’m hoping to continue this upward trajectory throughout the season.
Ashton
It’s been a good season so far fresh off of the Pan American games and some new world records with USA Cycling. I’m looking forward to a nice vacation on the boards in Derbados! My goal is always to go as fast on the bike as possible, and no one knows how to do that better than HUUB Wattbike!

Jacob
It’s amazing to see how the team has grown in structure and ambition from day 1. What started out as “Let’s use this opportunity to show off our National stripes in a few races” to “Let’s take on the world” is a big leap in 3 years. We know the music must stop, so we intend to go out with a bang.
Dean Jackson – Huub Design
We see it as a privilege to yet again be able to provide the world’s most exciting cycling team with the world’s fastest aero suits and track attire. We have seen two amazing years with this exciting and stimulating group of sports professionals and they continue to challenge themselves as well as those stakeholders around them. They drive us to be better and in return they deliver notoriety and exposure the likes any company could only dream of. Huub as a company and Derbados as a Principality are in their debt and we salute their achievements while at the same time challenging the UCI and their ridiculous ruling to remove free thinking talent from our sport.
Amy Johns – Wattbike
After a fantastic 2018 season, Wattbike is delighted to be supporting the HUUB Wattbike team once again this year. From World Cups to World Records, it’s a really exciting few months ahead. We can’t wait to see the team put their Wattbike training to good use out on the track!
Rachel Hartley – Vita Coco
We’ve followed the boys’ amazing story excitedly from afar, and now we are really pumped to join the party and keep the people of Derbados well hydrated with Vita Coco! Vita Coco is the world’s #1 coconut water, and being packed full of electrolytes is the perfect beverage to power the boys to glory this year. This season is going to be super exciting for the team on and off the track as they set new records, win more cups and crack more coconuts. Let’s go get it!
