News: Shaw Signs for Riwal Readynez

The 23-year-old British rider James Shaw has signed a deal for 2020 with Riwal Readynez Cycling Team making him the 6th rider outside of Scandinavia on the team.

“I’m very excited to get back to professional level after a year on continental level. I think this is a great opportunity for me and I feel very motivated and positive about the future with Riwal Readynez”, says James Shaw about his transfer.

The young Britton from Nottingham ascended to WorldTour level already at the age of 20 with Lotto Soudal in 2017 where he rode two seasons before dropping to continental level this season with the British SwiftCarbon Pro Cycling.

“I was young when I joined Lotto Soudal and it didn’t quite work out, but I can definitely take everything I learned there with me in my career. There are quite a lot of riders on the team next year that has professional experience both from WorldTour and Procontinental, and I think we can get to work very well together as one unit if we put together everything we’ve learned.”

James describes himself as a rider who’s discovering his future and keep improving in various directions.

“I find that I keep changing a little bit every year so it’s hard to put a specific definition on me, but I definitely prefer hilly terrains and smaller GC races, which is where I can make results.”

“Right now I look forward to meet everybody in a few weeks and on the training camp in January. For the season I look forward to good morale and team spirit between the riders and staff that we hopefully can create some great results from”, ends James Shaw.
