Transfer News: Lampier Signs for Ribble Weldtite
Ribble Weldtite and Saint Piran have collaborated to enable Steve to compete at the highest level for 2020. Steve needs no introduction, as one of the most respected British professionals in the peloton.
Steve comes off the back of arguably his best and most consistent season to date. Including wins at the Totnes Vire Stage Race, the South West Championships and the National Masters Road Race Championships. This was alongside a number of standout performances in the Tour Series and Elite Road Series.
The Tour of Britain starts in Cornwall next September, and as a proud Cornishman, Steve is naturally keen to be on the start line in Penzance. This would not be possible with Saint Piran, who will race at the Elite level again in 2020. Off the bike, Steve will continue to work as an ambassador for Saint Piran and is expected to re-join the team on the road for the 2021 season.
Saint Piran Team Principal Richard Pascoe said: “We wish Steve Lampier every success with Ribble Weldtite next season. Nobody will be more proud than me to see him on the start line of the Tour of Britain in Cornwall next year and it’s fantastic that Ribble have given him the opportunity.”

Steve said: “I am super excited to join Ribble weldtite for 2020 to be in a positive position to race in the highest level races in the UK and join this forward thinking progressive team. With the Tour of Britain starting in Cornwall and the stage coming within meters of my house, I couldn’t not take this opportunity.
Saint Piran has been my home team for the last two seasons, With Ricci Pascoe’s help he has enabled me to race and learn to manage a team. Skill sets which I can take with me and build on. I will still be in an ambassador role within the Saint Piran setup helping and guiding the younger lads as helping riders develop is a passion of mine.”

Tom Timothy, Ribble Weldtite Team Principal added; “We are thrilled to finalise our 2020 roster with the addition of Steve. His ability and palmares are unquestioned and I am sure he will enhance the team across all areas. He forms a key part of our development strategy for 2020 as we continue to push to improve across all areas. We thank Saint Piran for their support”
Following a successful 2019 campaign that included over 80 victories both in the UK and Europe. Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling has built a sustainable platform for success and progression. The team are competing at UCI Continental Level in 2020 and are putting their final preparations together ahead of the coming season.
Meanwhile, Saint Piran and Ribble Cycles are exploring ways for the two organisations to cooperate in the future, with further details expected in the New Year.
