News: Busy 2020 Ahead for Alpcycles
As we roll into a new decade in 2020, we spoke to Shelley and Ade at Alpcycles to get the lowdown on what’s going on at Alpcycles this summer.
A biggie for them is Alpcycles have become an Official Tour Operator for the ‘Ride Across Portugal’ cycling challenge in May. This is a multiday event covering this stunning country from north to south; 810 kilometres in six stages with 9,000 metres of climbing.
Those taking part will be staying in fantastic hotels and each day is literally door-to-door by bike. Ade & Ben from Alpcycles test rode the event in 2019 and afterwards knew that it was a must for their clients in 2020.
Ade says “the roads are “traffic light” and the varied terrain takes in mountain ranges and coastal routes as well as having great support & hospitality provided throughout. The event organisers execute the concept of riding an entire country in six days perfectly with their passion & expertise and we are excited to be part of the whole event”.
Much more in 2020
The Alpcycles team have much more on offer as well in 2020. Once again, they are supporting the legendary Haute Route multiday events this year, taking clients to both the seven-day Alps & Pyrenees events which consist of seven mountain stages covering 800kms plus and 20,000 metres plus of climbing……so a real life challenge for any rider.
Haute Route’s new three day weekend events that are based in one location continue to enhance Alpcycle’s calendar. With two mountain stages and a mountain time trial, the event commences on a Thursday and finishes on a Sunday.
“These are ideal” explains Ade if you are short on holiday days and need to get your mountain fix around the family. They are well suited to varied rider levels, accommodated by the choice of full or compact versions of each stage. We are at both the Haute Route Dolomites three day in June and the mythical Haute Route Ventoux three day in October.”
Sportive/Grand Fondo
For one day Sportive or Granfondos, Alpcycles have the legendary La Marmotte Alpes over a distance of 174kms with 5,000 metres of climbing. During the day, riders will tackle some of the toughest climbs back-to-back and finish on top of the Alpe d’Huez making this is the ‘daddy’ of mountain Granfondos.
Fancy a trip to Italy? Set in the stunning Italian dolomites is probably one of the oldest, most famous Granfondos in the form of the 34th Maratona dles Dolomites that provides riders with the option of three different courses; 138kms, 106kms or 55kms, all taking place on the classic stunning Sellaronda loop.
Etape du Tour 2020
Back in France and probably the most famous amateur cycling event in the world: the Etape du Tour 2020. This gives you a chance to ride the same closed road course as the Tour de France pro peloton. This July, it is based on the French riviera with a route from Nice to Nice over 177kms and 3,570 metres of elevation.
Alpcycles is an Official Tour Operator for all the above events, meaning they have guaranteed entries for their riders. They build the perfect accommodation & logistics package around each event to take away all the planning & stress so you can just turn up and concentrate 100% on riding your bike whilst they take care of everything else.
Looking for something more personal and custom to your needs? During the summer alongside the above events, Alpcycles offer their own schedule of weekend getaways in the mountains. With Alpcycles bespoke service, if you need something tailormade, their team will put together a totally unique trip for you, your club, group of friends or business associates.
They know how important your holiday is to you and want to make the experience as stress free as possible – so you think about nothing other than pedalling.
