News: British Women’s Team Cup
From Jon Miles

Invented 20 years ago, the Women Team Series has grown into a leading women’s race series in the country. From the small beginnings when there was probably 41 women licence holders racing, we now have full fields of 80 with reserves, a full Junior series plus tens of thousands of pounds in sponsorship and prize money.

Team Series 2005 – Bedford 3 Day

Women’s racing has grown into a serious sport which is often ignored by cycling magazines and I do wonder what the major manufacturers think when a large section of cyclists with money to spend are ignored in this way.

With 20 years gone, the Team Series is now a major part of the British racing scene so it is time for a revamp. To this end, the new name will be The British Women’s Team Cup and the organisers are looking for sponsorship for this important competition which will decide who is the best Women’s team in the country at the end of the season with them being presented with the British Women’s Team Cup. Current holders are Cycle Team on Form.

The season’s races for 2020 are as follows:
Sat 14 Mar, Milton Keynes Bowl
Sun 29 Mar, Virginia Waters
Sun 26 Apr, Coalville
Sun 31 May, Banbury
Sat 04 Jul, Oakley
Sun 09 Aug, Naseby
Sun 23 Aug, Bourne TTT
