The 2020 British Road championships begin on Thursday 18th June (Time Trials) in on a circuit around North Warwickshire with the road races on Saturday 20th June, starting at Centenary Square in Birmingham and ending in Wolverhampton for a city centre finish.

Road Championships 18th-20th June

With the Commonwealth Games coming to Birmingham in 2022, the national championships will give the region a flavour of what to expect from a high profile and competitive cycling event. The 2020 championships will begin on Thursday 18th June with the under-23 and elite time trials, with a circuit around North Warwickshire starting and finishing in Atherstone Town Centre. The under-23 and elite road races will then take place on Saturday 20th June, starting at Centenary Square in Birmingham and ending in Wolverhampton for a city centre finish.

Starting and Finishing in Atherstone Town Centre
Races will complete a 23.6 North Warwickshire Circuit with men completing an additional loop. The race will pass through Bentley, Furnace End, Over Whitacre, Church End, Ridge Lane, Mancetter, back to Atherstone. A rural, undulating, picturesque route

Elite & U23 Women
-Start Time – 09:00 (subject to change)
-Distance – 136.3km (including 13km neutral)
-Elevation Gain – 1,285m

Elite & U23 Men
-Start Time – 15:00 (subject to change)
-Distance – 172.7km (including 13km neutral)
-Elevation Gain – 1,611m
Start location – Centenary Square Birmingham.

Route
A456 & Wolverhampton Road through the Borough of Sandwell towards Dudley. Continues north on the A4123 towards The Black Country Living Museum and south on Priory Road towards Dudley Town Centre. Route heads west into South Staffordshire, passing Himley Hall on route to the 18km circuit. Each Race will then complete multiple laps of the more rural South Staffordshire circuit passing picturesque South Staffordshire Towns and Villages. Each lap will climb The Holloway/Church Road, the largest climb on the circuit. Both Races will then head into Wolverhampton for a City Centre Finish.
