Quickfire Lockdown! question and answer with Will Tyrer, media manager at the Liv Awol team

LOCKDOWN! Q&A with Will Tyrer

Will is media manager as of October of the team which last season was Liv Awol. Alongside this he runs a cycling website called tcgcycling and is also studying full time for a Sports Journalism BA in Preston specialising in cycling

Your last race was?
Will: The last race I attended was the Track Nats thanks to a few entries from some of the girls

With racing cancelled, what’s a typical week on the bike for you?
Will: I’m not sure this one quite applies to me but I’ve found myself getting out on my own bike a lot more rather than taking pictures of others on theirs

Are you having to enjoy using a turbo/rollers or avoiding it like the virus?
Will: I only have a prehistoric turbo so I try to avoid it at all costs.

If on the turbo, what’s your favourite distraction – Zwift or some other entertainment?
Will: music usually does the job, same as out on the road

What’s the hardest thing for you about the Lock Down
Will: the lack of socialising. I’m very social and enjoy meeting new people, and that’s a lot harder in today’s culture online.

Besides cycling, what’s your biggest distraction as lock down continues?
Will: Uni work like the interview I recently did with Alex Spratt, and then beyond that it seems to be just watching endless reruns of races from the 2000s onwards

What’s the bike that gets the most use by you and why what is the best thing about it?
Will: My bianchi and just for the colour, it’s a beauty. (In case it wasn’t clear, my on the bike skills are certainly below par)

What’s the weirdest thing you have seen since this crisis began?
Will: the ignorance and arrogance of so much of the British population, that or the sudden rise in people taking up jogging and cycling.

Finally, where you do you enjoy riding the most in this country or abroad?
Will: Overseas is definitely more fun, but Britain has its golden spots
