Lockdown Q & A with David Carr (Rotor Race Team)

Brought to you by Velotech Services

Q: Your last race was?
David: My last race was the OffCamber winter XC Series held at Blandford Forum.

Q: Your favourite discipline in cycling?
David: Mountain Biking

Q: How long have you ridden for Rotor Race Team?
David: I have been with Rotor Race Team for about 2 years.

Q: What races have you missed so far that you wish you hadn’t?
David: I was looking forward to taking part in ‘Battle on the Beach’ in Pembrokeshire and ‘Mountain Mayhem’ held near Market Harborough, both of which have been cancelled due to Covid 19.

Q: With racing cancelled, what’s a typical week training wise for you now?
David: I am currently cruising, road riding three times a week and MTB twice a week with some turbo training mixed in. When MTBing, I am riding for longer than normal but with some sprint sections along the ride.

Q: If on the turbo, what’s your favourite distraction?
David: Watching past UCI XC races.

Q: What event are you hoping does take place in 2020?
David: Trans Alps as yet hasn’t been postponed. The organisers are going to let us know by the end of this week. Also, I’d love to ride at Exposure 24-12 and have a decent result in the British 24hr champs.

Q: Besides cycling, what’s your biggest distraction when stuck indoors under Lockdown?
David: Our Jack Russell – Patch

Q: What’s the bike that gets the most use by you?
David: Giant Anthem Pro during the drier months, Giant TCR Advanced at all other times. Being from Hampshire, riding off road is pretty rubbish in the winter, the chalk and mud really kills your bikes.

Q: What is your favourite and most used product from Velotech Services?
David: Q chain rings from Rotor.

Q: Finally, where you do you enjoy riding the most in this country or abroad?
David: Oh that’s tough. I’d say the Peak District (UK) for mountain biking and Majorca, Spain for road riding.
