Lockdown Q&A: Jess Cobbe (Rotor Race Team)
Brought to you by Velotech Services
We have another lockdown Q&A from the Rotor Race Team, this time from self employed sports massage therapist Jess Cobbe based in Leicestershire
Q: Your last race was?
Jess: My last race was at the beginning of March at the first round of the Midlands XC series at Dummaston Woods.
Q: Your favourite discipline in cycling?
Jess: Hard to choose between XC MTB and CX! I’d have to say MTB purely for how much fun you can have riding and the amazing places you get ride!
Q: How long have you ridden for Rotor Race Team?
Jess: I joined Rotor at the beginning of my MTB season last year, so about 1 year!
Q: What races have you missed so far that you wish you hadn’t?
Jess: The first round of the MTB National series at Hadleigh Park. It would of been my first time racing there and we went up a couple of weeks before to practice the course so I was really looking forward to it!
Q: With racing cancelled, what’s a typical week training wise for you now?
Jess: Not too much different than a normal week, taking the time out from racing to work on a few of my weaknesses. A typical week would be about 5/6 days training with a mix of endurance rides, interval variations and usually a couple of home gym sessions.
Q: If on the turbo, what’s your favourite distraction – Zwift or some other entertainment?
Jess: I’ve not given in to the Zwift hype yet!! Usually some music or I watch a lot of films or series if it’s a long session, I think I’ve about gone through everything on Netflix!!
… continued after advert
Q: What event are you hoping does take place in 2020?
Jess: The MTB National Champs at the end of July! Fingers crossed we’re able to race again soon when it’s safe. If not, then I just hope we get a full CX season in!
Q: Besides cycling, what’s your biggest distraction when stuck indoors under Lockdown?
Jess: Sunbathing in the garden haha! Or I attempt to bake something or help with the decorating that’s happening at home.
Q: What’s the bike that gets the most use by you?
Jess: Probably evenly split between my full suspension MTB or my training road/cx bike
Q: What is your favourite and most used product from Velotech Services?
Jess: My ROTOR INpower crank set! Makes training so much easier!
Q: Finally, where you do you enjoy riding the most in this country or abroad?
Jess: I’ve not ridden too much aboard although I’d love to do more riding over there. But local roads are always the best, and there’s so many amazing places to ride in the UK, so I’d have to say this country!
