News: Storey Racing line up in 2021

Joining from Edinburgh Road Club, after a successful time in 2019 racing internationally with Scottish Cycling, first year under 23 Beth Morrow will be looking to further her own horizons in the road races in particular. Described by her former club as a stand out talent and wonderful person, Beth will be using her gap year in 2021 to further her cycling and cement her place in the Scottish Cycling team.

Final year junior rider, Erin Avill, makes the move from RFDA (RaceScene Female Development Academy) and will look to continue her all round development. Based in South Yorkshire and a keen videographer, Erin first rode a bike aged three and a half and has many different disciplines under her belt already. Joining Storey Racing will enable her to learn from the senior riders when it comes to stepping up to some of the longer races on the women’s road race calendar.

Speaking of the additional riders joining for 2021, Dame Sarah Storey said, “I am really excited to welcome Beth and Erin to our line up. Both riders sent really impressive application emails and were fantastic to chat to during the calls we had to discuss if membership of Storey Racing was going to be the right thing for them.”

“We have had a very different year to the one that was planned 12 months ago, but despite the restrictions have still been able to wave Zoe Backstedt and Kelly Murphy off to race in European teams. Our objectives are always to provide the best nurturing environment for riders to find the right direction for them and we have a significant focus on mentoring which I think provided stability for the team during the pandemic and lockdowns.”

“Although the start of 2021 doesn’t look to be particularly different to the majority of 2020, and the National Cyclocross Championships have been cancelled, I’m hopeful we can get the team together in March for a team launch, and then we’ll all be ready to race when the green light is given!”
