News: Pidcock Third in Hulst World Cup
Tom Pidcock third in UCI World Cup cyclocross race in Hulst: After his podium place against two huge legends of the sport right now, van der Poel and Van Aert, Tom Pidcock can live with his third place. The British champion pushed Wout van Aert to the limit in the battle for second place, behind Mathieu van der Poel who was in a class of his own today.

“It was a lap too long for me to stay with Van Aert”, Pidcock says afterwards. “I thought it was a very difficult course. It was fast, but also with a lot of deep mud. It was therefore very difficult to get into your rhythm ”, explained the leader of Trinity, who will make the switch to INEOS Grenadiers in February.

“When I saw Van der Poel go, I knew I had to forget first place. I was riding for second place and had to refocus, because there were three of us were racing for second place ”, said Pidcock. Ultimately, he ended up in a duel with Van Aert in the final phase. Pidcock eventually had to let go of the Belgian. “But, I am not dissatisfied” Pidck says.

The cyclocross winter for Pidcock is coming to an end, First, a training camp awaits with his upcoming INEOS Grenadiers squad. “I now only ride three cross races with the focus on the World Championship in Ostend. I will now also do targeted sand training”, he says.
