Egan Bernal said at the end of last year that he is aiming for a second overall victory in the Tour de France in 2021, but the Colombian of INEOS Grenadiers does not rule out in conversation with La Gazzetta dello Sport that he will make his debut in the Giro this year.

“I’m preparing for the Tour de France,” said Bernal in December after winning the Zipaquirá best sportsman award. “It is the most important race in the world, so I will have to train very hard for it.” The 24-year-old rider is now also talking about the Tour of Italy with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I definitely want to make my debut one day. The Giro is the first major Grand Tour on the calendar and is therefore the first option in my mind. However, that does not mean that everything has already been arranged. I still have to coordinate it all with the team. It is also too early to talk about plans, given the corona crisis. ”

Bernal had to leave the 2020 Tour after sixteen stages due to a back injury. The Colombian, who is still recovering from his lingering injury.
