Nuun-Sigma Sports-London Race Team Returns for 10th Year With New Focus and Motivation; Team will focus on a wider variety of disciplines and events in 2021
Nuun-Sigma Sports-London Race Team, one of the UK’s longest-running amateur cycling teams, has this week confirmed its 2021 line-up of riders and plans for the year ahead.
Established in 2012 by Cameron Fraser, the London-based team has been a regular sight at road, track and time trial events across the South East and Southern Regions and placed within the top 10 of British Cycling’s team and club rankings 2018-2020. A familiar jersey at the Tour Series, Lincoln Grand Prix, national track meetings the team has also ventured further afield to race in France, Belgium and Spain but now has broader objectives this year.
In what is co-title sponsor Nuun Hydration’s 10th year with the team, the plans for time on the bike have evolved into having a much wider representation, diversifying from racing predominantly on the road and track towards more adventure and off-road riding, an aspect of cycling which has been driven by the Covid-19 pandemic and one which showcases the team’s passion for all disciplines of cycling. The team’s focus remains as much on creating high quality digital content for sponsors both on and off the bike as crossing the finish line first.
This devotion to generating engaging, accessible content from a squad of riders all with full-time jobs is cited as the secret to the team’s successful and long term relationship with all its sponsors.
Looking at the year ahead, Team Director and rider, Cameron Fraser said: “No one could have predicted what 2020 would bring, not only to the sport but to the world and so to be back at the start of our 10th season with our sponsors supporting us is a great achievement. Despite a renewed passion for cycling that has seen prosperous times in the cycling industry for many, it’s not been that easy for teams and event organisers. As a result, we’re ready and willing to support organisers across multiple disciplines to help get cycling back on its feet.
“Alongside our continued support of amateur racing through assistance and prize donations to race organisers, provision of Neutral Service in road races through our sponsored vehicles, we’ll also be on the start line of a much more varied events calendar this season.
“Everyone’s really excited to be back thinking about events and racing, and can’t wait to get up to speed and to start telling our story as we prepare, compete and generally enjoy riding our variety of bikes and equipment.”
As the teams’ very first sponsor, Nuun Hydration continues its co-title sponsorship with the aim of promoting the clean and natural hydration product range, which has expanded considerably since its humble beginnings in the South West of England. Sigma Sports, the UK’s leading multi-sports retailer, is continuing its many years of commitment to supporting the team as co-title sponsor alongside its own continued growth.
The roster sees the addition of former JLT Condor and Memil Pro Cycling continental pro Edmund Bradbury alongside 10 returning riders. The team will continue to ride a fleet of Cannondale SystemSix Ultegra Di2 bikes, as well as SuperSlice time trial machines, equipped with ENVE’s 5.6 SES tubeless disc wheels. Nuun’s new UK distributor, 2Pure will be collaborating with the team to activate the partnership with the global hydration brand.
