British Womens Team Cup Zwift Race

After organising the first event held 21st March inside a week to replace what would have been the first Bovingdon Bomber Team Cup race event, the foot went off the pedal a little bit to enjoy some glorious sunshine and hang on, some actual group riding outside, what a thrill!

But back to it, one week to go until our next British Womens Team Cup Zwift race which is next Sunday 11th of April. It replaces one of the toughest rounds on the calendar for the teams, the Dave Peck Memorial. Based in Virginia Water and raced in a figure of 8 round the Valley End and Staple Hill Circuits the course on the road is tough with the finish exposed to the elements at the highest point of Chobham Common.

This event is very dear to my heart as it is held on the training grounds of my club Twickenham CC. The race itself is named after Dave Peck, the much loved Chairman of TCC who was a huge supporter of Womens road racing and sadly died in a cycling accident in 2011. Although I’m not sure what he would make of our alternative virtual racing!

To reflect what would have been the challenge of the Dave Peck race, I have chosen the Surrey Hills course which is our hilliest course in the Zwift series with 1034m of climbing.

With Saint Piran out in the lead from an exciting first race with impressive team tactics closely followed by Pro-Noctis – Redchilli Bikes – Heidi Kjeldsen and Cowley Road Condors we look forward to another full on race ably commentated by our Zwift Race sponsors Matt Payne and his team from Full Speed Events!
