The Tour Series jerseys sponsored by Freewheel.co.uk have been unveiled as the event has less than two months to go kicking off in August, 850 days since the last round was held at Brooklands in 2019
Tour Series: Freewheel Jerseys Unveiled
The Tour Series and Freewheel.co.uk have celebrated the two months to go marker until the start of the 2021 event by unveiling the spectacular leaders’ jerseys for this August’s series.
Britain’s leading men’s and women’s teams will battle it out for the right to wear the Freewheel.co.uk leaders’ jerseys upon the series’ return this summer, the first Tour Series rounds to take place since the culmination 2019 event at the historic Brooklands circuit in Surrey over 850 days ago. The eye-catching yellow jerseys, which will be worn by all five members of the leading teams, are being created by series partners PEARL iZUMi.
While the series’ team format remains innovative and unique in the sport of cycling, individual riders will still get a chance to get their name in the lights, in part courtesy of the Freewheel.co.uk sprints competition. The male and female rider who accumulates the most points at the intermediate sprints after each round will be presented with a new-look, pale blue Freewheel.co.uk-branded sprints jersey.
The jersey reveal begins the countdown proper to the start of the 2021 Tour Series, with details of the host venues and round dates to follow in the coming weeks.
Kellie Parsons, Marketing Director at Freewheel.co.uk, said: “It is so exciting to see the jersey designs as we look ahead to the return of racing and the beginning of the Tour Series. PEARL iZUMi have done an incredible job to create these stunning jerseys that will really pop out during races.”
Freewheel.co.uk is a cycling website that has been created to support small businesses. Cycling enthusiasts can shop some of the biggest brands in cycling but the main difference with Freewheel is that a percentage of every sale will go to their chosen local bike shop. It brings together the convenience of shopping online and the ability to support local bike shops. Shoppers can choose home delivery of click and collect from over 400 independent stores nationwide.
All eyes will be on Canyon dhb SunGod and CAMS-Basso in August as they look to defend the respective men’s and women’s titles they won in 2019. Should they triumph, Canyon will become the first men’s team in history to win three-consecutive series.
Jonathan Durling, Partnerships Director at SweetSpot Group, organisers of the Tour Series, said: “We’re excited to welcome Freewheel to the Tour Series family – the website’s ethos is commendable as the Tour Series leaders’ jerseys are eye-catching. We’re looking forward to the return of the series in August as part of an eagerly-anticipated domestic racing calendar.”
Returning for its 12th edition this summer, the Tour Series is Britain’s leading televised cycle race series. The event brings fun, fast and free sporting action to towns across the UK, combining community activities alongside elite men’s and women’s racing. Highlights of the 2021 series will again be shown on ITV4 in the UK.
