Another early season classic being held is the Totnes Vire road race, two races – one a National B and the other a Junior Road Race
Startlist: Totnes Vire Road Races
When: July 4
Where: Race Headquarters: Bridestowe Village Hall Pool Hill, Okehampton, EX20 4EW
Message from the organising team:
The 2021 promotion is the 47th edition of this stage race promoted by the Mid Devon CC. The race’s origins go back to 1973 when the Mid-Devon Road Club first promoted a two-day event to mark the twinning of Totnes and Vire in Normandy. We are super excited to bring you an action packed day of racing around some of Dartmoor’s finest roads. Totnes Vire’s history as one of the country’s longest standing and best run races continues after a hiatus for the pandemic in 2020.
This year a single stage of 3 laps of the Roadford Lake will guarantee some fireworks and tired legs. We will also run a Junior only race concurrently for two laps to bring some much needed opportunity to the younger riders here in the South West. The Mid-Devon CC wish all competitors and race officials a safe and trouble free weekend. May the 2021 promotion see more success attach itself as the longest standing senior race in Devon & Cornwall and may the presentation of the race further enhance cycling in the eyes of the general public. We wish everyone concerned with the race a successful weekend in Devon.
10.30 hours E/1/2 Race starts – anticipated finish of 14.00
10.40 hours Junior Race starts – anticipated finish of 13.00
The circuit is approx 30 miles long. Repeat for a total of 3 circuits for the Elite race and 2 for the Junior. Finish past HQ on the hill out of Bridestowe.
