Sunday: Menen Kemmel Menen Junior international in Belgium

Menen Kemmel Menen will be the first Belgian classic of the 2021 season in July 11 for the AG2R CITROËN U19 team where British Juniors Maximilian Cushway and Benjamin Peatfield  will be racing to win the event

After several cancellations at the beginning of the season, Paris Roubaix, Gent Wevelgem and Nokere Koerse, the riders in the French team racing Menen Kemmel Menen  will  get the chance to make the most of racing in Belgian, home to the Monuments such as Tour des Flandres and Gent-Wevelgem.

The team will be very ambitious with five riders, two nationalities and two 1st year juniors. Estevan Delaunay (ASPTT Châteauroux) will take the start of his first race with the team AG2R CITROËN U19 in 2021. Maximilian Cushway (Véloce Vannetais), a British rider and 1st year junior as well, will be at the start after a really good 7th place during the first stage of Bizkaiko Itzulia.

With them, two teammates who were in Spain as well, Benjamin Peatfield (VC Saintais), and Yanis Seguin (VC Saintais). The English rider won the jersey of the best Sprinter. last week in Spain and the recent Nouvelle Aquitaine champion won two stages and wore the yellow jersey. Mathias Sanlaville (Cours la Ville Cyclisme) will be the fifth rider. He will race his first race in 2021 with the team, after his win of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Champion.

David Giraud, sports director “It’s our first race for two years in Flanders. The races here are very good for the riders to learn in. That’s why we are going for the first time to Menen Kemmel Menen which will be on a parcour with 13 laps of a 12 flat kilometres (135.4). The course though will be quite technical with twists and turns on the city roads. The team is in good shape with Benjamin, Yanis and Mathias, who like these kind of roads and have been winning in the recent weeks. They will be with talented 1st year juniors, Maximilian and Estevan. We will give everything  to make an aggressive race to try to win this Belgian classic.”
