Chris says on Facebook: “What a day!!! – I’ve been trying to win the Wally Gimber trophy for around 25 years but had pretty much given up on it. I got in a very early break of three around five miles in and then down to myself and Neil Philips for the last 20 miles. Knowing I’d get walloped in the sprint, I went all in about 5k out and managed to get a gap to take to the line. I’m a big believer that if you work hard and keep putting yourself in the breaks, then eventually your numbers will come up and today was one of those days that make all the training worthwhile. Massive thank you to my wife Semone for the support”
