Paul Hart proved a deserved winner of the 2021 Finsbury Park Road Race Sunday by winning solo after forcing the key break of the 59-mile race.

Paul Hart proved a deserved winner of the 2021 Finsbury Park Road Race Sunday by winning solo after forcing the key break of the 59-mile race.

Strongman Hart (Hart Performance Racing) attacked mid-way through the race and was alone at the front for a lap and half of the rolling Rickling Green course in Essex before four other riders bridged up.

By the start of the last lap, the group had a minute’s lead and never looked like being caught. Hart attacked again to win solo by 15 seconds. Tom Yiangou (Athlon CC) won the sprint for second from the three-man chase group with Colin Ward (Essex Roads CC) third.

In benign conditions, two riders got away in the first lap but were soon caught as the pack chased them down. Riders were spat out the back by the pace and no other moves stuck until Hart lit up the race.
