Catford CC has passed the ‘Devil’s Trident’ to Westerham CC who now become the event organiser of the Hell of the Ashdown (HOTA) – an iconic sportive which marks the start of the cycling season in south east England and is regarded as one of the UK’s toughest, most demanding sportives.

The Hell of the Ashdown 2022 will be held at Westerham Brewery, Westerham, Kent on Sunday 27th February 2022.

The 2022 route will follow most of the original HOTA course with riders covering 104km, and 1750 metres of climbing taking on a number of well known and feared climbs and cols. Major climbs include Toys Hill, Markbeech, Wych Cross, Twyford Lane, Colemans Hatch (The Wall), Groombridge, Hobbs Hill, Hubbards Hill, Hogtrough Hill, and Brasted Hill. The event is run in aid of Chartwell Cancer Trust and Valence School with part of the proceeds going towards supporting people with cancer and disabilities.

Commenting on HOTA 2022 Mark Brewer, Chairman of Westerham CC said: “We are delighted to be entrusted with HOTA it’s an iconic sportive loved and feared by riders.
