2022 British CX Championships Day 2 – A race where the favourites (Mason and Mein) quickly established themselves at the front and their challengers (Blackmore and Toby Barnes) chased them all the way to the finish on a tough course which was technically challenging as well.

Men’s British Cyclocross Champion – Thomas Mein (press release from his team Tormans CX: “This is my very first champion title since I started racing at the age of ten. It’s incredible! I knew it would be a difficult battle with Cameron Mason on this course so I tried to manage my race as smart as possible. In the first two laps, I made sure not to push too hard to enter the final with enough energy. I exploited the parts of the course that suited me best to keep Mason at bay to ultimately win this thrilling duel. This victory moves me very much, because my family and all those who have supported me from an early age were there. All the pieces of the puzzle fell into place on this unforgettable day. It truly is a relief, this title erases all the sacrifices of the past years. Living away from my family, going through travel restrictions, my health issues earlier this season… It was all worth it. In return, I can wear the Union Jack on my chest for the next twelve months. I can’t wait to discover my new jersey!”
