Charlie Beake is 24 and from Somerset in England and this will be his second season with his current team in Spain. Charlie also spent three seasons with the Zappi Racing Team prior to coming to race in Spain.

Riders in Spain: Charlie Beake (Brocar-Ale)

Charlie is 24 and from Somerset in England and this will be his second season with his current team in Spain. Charlie also spent three seasons with the Zappi Racing Team prior to coming to race in Spain.

“Having picked up racing at the age of 18 and international racing at aged 20, it’s only now I really feel I’m starting to have the level required to be fighting for victories” Charlie explained. “Last season was my most successful yet with four top 10s and a 20th place being my best result at a Copa de Espana last season”.

Like Tom Martin from Cumbria, Charlie is also with the Brocar-Ale racing team and this weekend, he is heading to the first round of the Copa de Espana (Spanish Cup) in Don Benito, Extremadura along with another British rider, Louis Sutton. The race is the 56th Circuito del Guadiana.

“We race over four laps of a reasonably flat circuit however we will also tackle the Alto de Magacela each lap, a four minute climb which reaches gradients of up to 15%. Crosswinds can play a factor in the race here also. The race will be a total of 171km one of the longest on the Spanish amateur calendar.”

“My season is well underway having also raced in the Vuelta a Guadalentin and the Memorial Manuel Sanroma(Vuelta Almagro). I showed well at both these races and am looking to hit the ground running this weekend in Don Benito”.
