Ryan Klein won a tightly fought two-up sprint to win this year’s Finsbury Park Cycling Club road race on the Wendens Ambo course in Essex.

Ryan Klein won a tightly fought two-up sprint to win this year’s Finsbury Park Cycling Club road race on the Wendens Ambo course in Essex. The Ipswich BC rider was joined by Andrea Bartoluccio of Verulam with more than two laps to go and the pair worked well together to hold their slender lead. Edmund Slater of GFTL won the bunch sprint just 10 seconds behind after the grueling 59-mile, seven lap race.

In almost perfect conditions, the fast pace on the rolling course accounted for dozens of riders on the first lap. Small groups regularly managed to chip off the front up the 1-mile long climb to the finish line over the M11 bridge but nothing stuck until the dynamic duo at the front got away. Although the bunch had the pair in their sights, they couldn’t quite bring them back despite a number of solo efforts to bridge across.

There were 45 finishers from the full field of 60 in the cat 2/3/4 regional A race.
