This Sunday, a long running memorial event to Betty Pharoah that was started by her husband Reg and since then had many a high profile name on the winners list including World Tour Pro Connor Swift and former Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas.

This Sunday sees the long running classic, the Betty Pharoah Memorial Road Races held at Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan. Two races, 3/4 and E/1/2/3.

The Memorial Races
Reg Pharoah is long standing President of Cardiff Ajax CC. Decades of hard work have made him a legend of cycling in South Wales and further afield. In 2014 his hard work was recognised at the Torch Trophy Trust Awards where he was presented an award by HRH The Princess Royal alongside the likes of footballing legend Sir Bobby Charlton. The race was started by Reg as a memorial to his late wife Betty. He successfully organised the race for 10 years before passing the reins to Chris Landon who organised the event up until 2015 when he decided to take a step back due to his commitments to other races including the Junior tour of Wales. Since then the race has been organised by the current organiser Rob Warren. In recent years the race has attracted some of the UK’s top riders including World and Olympic medallists with entries from Pro teams. Reg and the race are very dear to all at Cardiff Ajax Cycling Club and we hope it will continue to be a success for many years to come.
