RR Result: Tony Sweeney Memorial RR

Lune RCC held their 2/3/4 road race, in memory of Tony Sweeney, on the Aughton circuit on Saturday 13th in stunning sunny weather where spectators could enjoy the amazing views over the Lune valley to Claughton Moor beyond. There were 48 starters for the 8 laps of a 6.3 mile circuit and as early as the 2nd lap breaks were detaching themselves from the front but the biggest gap was only 30 seconds and it all came together on the last lap before Patrick Casey went for a long one to win alone and take the first junior prize too. In 2nd was Marinus Petersen, also finishing solo, with Jake Edwards in 3rd place at 27 seconds and the bunch coming in at 58 seconds.”
