Track Result: Chris Wharton Memorial Track Meeting

The meeting included the National Elimination Championship, the National Tandem Sprint Championship, a round of the National Endurance League and supporting events. Even though the first race was the supporting scratch race, the competitors didn’t hold back with Ben Marsh, a 2nd year junior, winning the race. The next bunch race was the National Elimination Championship which again was ridden at high energy and non stop action, with the final battle between Tom Ward and Matthew Rotherham being hard fought. Matthew proved however to be the worthy winner.

Matthew then carried on and piloted Sophie Unwin to victory in the Tandem Sprint Championship, so a busy day for him. Meanwhile, Ben Marsh continued his campaign, winning the supporting Points race, and Elimination race and taking 2nd in the Endurance league round event to Sidney Wilson. Whilst one of our most loyal and probably ‘mature’ riders taking third.

So a great day of action, friendships renewed, new friendships made; skills passed on to the up and coming riders whilst they in turn passed on some new tricks to the not quite up and coming riders…. a few laughs…. just a great day.
