A new grassroots women’s cycling team launched to encourage entry into racing
News: new Womens Cycling Team
A new, amateur cycling team, is being launched for 2024 to encourage female cyclists to take the next step into racing. Bridging the intimidating gap between club runs and entry into competitive racing, the team aims to get more women racing bikes in a supportive and inclusive environment.
New team members will be offered coached training sessions; entry into British Team Cup races as a minimum and a team coach offering practical advice during race, among a host of other benefits. The PDQ Cycle Coaching and Property Elite team is the brainchild of former professional road racing cyclist turned PDQ coach Jason Streather, and co-founder of chartered surveyors training company Property Elite, Jen Lemen.

Jason said: “Women’s cycling has progressed massively in the last few years at the professional level, with many of the men’s teams now developing a programme at the Women’s World Tour, but there is still so much more to do at grass roots. For any cyclist, entering your first race can be a daunting experience and we hope to change that by providing the encouragement and support needed to make the leap.”
A keen cyclist, Jen Lemen started racing competitively just this year with the help of PDQ Coaching and in her first season has already won her first Cat 3/4 race and progressed to Cat 2 racing. Jen said: “I am a passionate cyclist and advocate of women’s cycling. I want to see more women enjoying racing their bikes, feeling empowered through cycling and developing their skills. Property Elite are a company that inspire and train future Chartered Surveyors and we hope to bring some of this experience and mentorship to the PDQ Property Elite team”.
The focus of the new team will be to encourage members to work together in local British Cycling South races; regional road races; National B road races and the British Team Cup.
