News: trainSharp Orro Elite Team Launch

Leading coaching company trainSharp Cycling has partnered with Orro Bikes for the 2024 season launching the trainSharp Orro Elite team – the first time the East Sussex based bike manufacturer has been a title sponsor for any cycling team. With the new investment, support and sponsorship, trainSharp Elite has grown its roster for 2024 and has its sights set on racing the UK and Europe’s biggest amateur races. We take a deeper dive into the team’s riders, equipment and objectives for the 2024 season.

Kicking off 2024 with a bang, trainSharp Orro Elite have signed the Mazzone brothers – Tom and Leon from the Isle of Man – to bolster their existing rider lineup. Tom and Leon Mazzone offer a wealth of experience having raced on the road for some of UK’s biggest teams along with appearances at the Commonwealth Games and Tour of Britain road races.

Other star signings include the re-signing of Ollie Peckover, Tim Torrie, Sam Shephard, Danylo Riwynj and Matthew Webster. It will come of no surprise to many that Ollie and Tim make a return to the trainSharp Orro Elite squad for 2024 with wins and podiums at National B Level and CTT national team time trial championships.

Now in it’s 3rd season, trainSharp Orro Elite feel as though they are positioned to make a real impact having secured sponsorship and a strong rider lineup. ‘We’re really looking forward to the season this year. It’s great to have a revitalised rider line-up, a new title sponsor and a fantastic network of support around the team this year’ Team owner and trainSharp Cycling founder Jon Sharples

The riders will exclusively be using Orro’s most aerodynamic offering, the Venturi STC frameset. The bikes will be setup with Shimano’s latest 12s Ultegra Di2 offering and will run on Fulcrum wheels. The riders came down to trainSharp’s HQ and service course last weekend to collect their 2024 bikes. Team mechanic Dan Neal was on hand to complete the final set up of each bike. Dan himself will be building, maintaining and running the whole fleet of bikes for 2024 from trainSharp’s HQ and will be on hand at each of the race weekends to provide mechanical support. The team has been using the Venturi throughout the 2022 and 2023 seasons with great success and they will be hoping to continue that momentum through 2024.

The team’s primary objectives are shifting slightly with a focus on more international race days for the team members with Belgium and France being the main destinations. The team is all about giving the riders chance to showcase themselves throughout the UK and Europe whilst giving them the experience needed to jump up to the professional tiers of cycling. The team will be focussed on the CTT Team Time Trial champs after narrowly missing victory in 2023 with their 2nd place finish.

For young riders looking for an opportunity to grow in the sport, trainSharp’s development pathway is accepting riders for their 2024 season – contact the team for more information.
