Amy Drysdale and Tom Ashcroft the winners at the Racing Chance Pimbo Spring Road Races on Sunday, April 28
RR Result: Racing Chance Pimbo Spring Road Races
The Racing Chance Pimbo Spring Road Races Pimbo Industrial Estate were Regional B – Men was 38 miles, Women was 32 miles. Despite the threat of rain and wind, the weather forecast turned out to be correct and the event had sunshine!
The Men’s race was won by Tom Ashcroft in a 55-up sprint, with the 38 miles being covered at an average speed of 28mph. The Men’s race had its fair share of drama, with an attack being launched around 5 laps in, which included Jeff Wood (Weaver Valley CC), Chris Spencer (Velo 6 Racing) and Steven Fidler joining them. Three additional riders later bridged across before the bunch realised that the break would stay away if they didn’t act, and the riders were brought back with around 2 laps to go.
The women’s race also saw some attempts to get away which led to some riders losing contact after a few laps. The race was eventually won by Amy Drysdale of Team Boompods in a sprint finish.
The organisers would like to thank all of the riders for two safe races, which saw the first aid team have a very quiet day.
Thanks; Heather and Fred Bamforth; The Racing Chance Foundation
