News: Ribble Cycles to Sponsor Women’s CiCLE Classic
The partnership, which includes sponsoring the Queen of the Bergs competition and key offroad sectors of both the women’s and junior races, highlights Ribble Cycles’s ongoing commitment to championing cycling for all levels and genders
(Press Release) February 19, 2025 – Preston, United Kingdom: Ribble is continuing its support of the domestic cycling scene in the UK by coming on board as an official supporting sponsor of the 2025 ANEXO/CAMS Women’s CiCLE Classic. The UK’s premier performance bike brand will sponsor the race’s Queen of the Bergs competition on Sunday 23rd March, which sees a pennant and £300 cash prize awarded to the rider who accrues the most points over the race’s four classified climbs.
Ribble will also sponsor the Somerberg and Stapleford Park sectors for both the women’s and junior men’s races, which are held on the same day. Previous winners of the Queen of the Bergs competition include illustrious names such as Katie Archibald (2017), Sophie Wright (2018) and Flora Perkins (2021). The race itself is one of the toughest on the British women’s calendar, having first launched in 2016. Starting and finishing in Melton Mowbray, it is renowned for its challenging mix of farm tracks and gravel sectors, similar to the Spring Classics which take place on the continent.
Last year’s edition was won by Eluned King on her Ribble Cycles bike, who sprinted to victory ahead of Eilidh Shaw. King also wrapped up the Queen of the Bergs crown in the process.
Sean Hastings, Ribble CEO, said: “It’s great to be supporting the ANEXO/CAMS Women’s CiCLE Classic. We can’t wait to watch the racing unfold at one of the most iconic and challenging events on the British cycling calendar.”
Colin Clews, Race Director of the ANEXO/CAMS Women’s CiCLE Classic, said: “We are delighted Ribble Cycles have chosen to add their support to our unique women’s and junior men’s races. The addition of their valuable expertise and reputation within the sport over many years can only enhance the already proud status of our races, and having them onboard will help increase our visibility, and allow us to reach an even wider audience.”
The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Ribble will be the official bike sponsor of the Smurfit Westrock Cycling Team for the 2025 season, who are set to compete at the ANEXO/CAMS Women’s CiCLE Classic next month.
