Joe Reeves Clinches Victory in Thrilling Azets Spring Classic

The Azets Spring Classic delivered a pulsating day of racing on the Monkey World circuit in Dorset on Sunday, February 23rd. As the first race of the newly formed South League, this race marked an exciting start to the regional calendar. With powerhouse teams such as Primera TeamJobs, Reflex NoPinz, and League Race Team in attendance, the prospect of forcing a race-winning break was always going to be an arduous task. Add to that the relentless winds and the looming threat of rain, and the stage was set for a true early-season test of endurance and tactical nous.

From the moment the flag dropped, the racing was aggressive. Attack after attack was launched, each met with fierce resistance from the peloton. The furious tempo took its toll, as riders were steadily shelled out the back, victims of both the pace and the punishing conditions.

Despite the attritional nature a number of riders broke away, whittling down to a quartet of riders who contested the sprint to the line. Reflex NoPinz’s Joe Reeves proved the strongest, surging to an emphatic victory. Close behind, George Cotterell of the University of Nottingham Cycling Club took second place, while Finn Dunton of Project 51 secured the final podium spot in third. An honourable mention must go to Piers Mahn of Halesowen A & CC, who put in a valiant ride to claim fourth.

This event would not be possible without the dedication of many individuals. A huge thank you to all the riders who braved the elements and delivered such a spectacular race. Likewise, immense gratitude goes to the supporters who lined the finish area, providing encouragement when it was needed most. The race could not have run smoothly without the tireless efforts of the officials, national escort group, drivers, accredited marshals, red flag marshals, and first aid provider. Their commitment to grassroots cycling is truly invaluable.

Finally, a special word of appreciation to Azets.co.uk for their continued support of the sport at this level. Their investment ensures that races like the Azets Spring Classic continue to thrive, providing a platform for the next generation of talent to shine. With such backing, the future of grassroots racing remains bright.
