16 year old Leon Atkins (17.47) sets record winning Hemel Hempstead CC 10 mile time trial on June 15, Emily Martin wins the Women’s event

Last weekend Junior rider Leon Atkins broke the Junior National 10 Mile TT competition record by just 1 second, setting a time of 17.47. The event was run by Hemel Hempstead Cycling Club which is where Leon was a member when he first started cycling at age 8! Sixteen year old Leon, who was riding for Protégé 258, said: “It was a windy day out so not the best conditions for it, however I am still pleased to have taken this record. I feel I have more time in the bag and hopefully over the coming events, I can prove this” Leon took the overall event win finishing 20 seconds up on senior rider James Jenkins.
