After a hugely successful and enjoyable season, Nuun- Sigma Sport-London are proud to announce four new signings and sponsor details for the 2015 season.
We are very pleased to announce that joining the team for 2015 are Wouter Sybrandy, Andy Betts, Lee Smith and Chris Snook. Wouter Sybrandy has been a long standing member of Sigma Sport UCI teams throughout the years, as well as spending some time at the coal face in the Sigma Sport warehouse!
Joining Wouter is former Sigma Sport teammate and long term racer Andy Betts who has chalked up numerous wins over the years in the South East. Lee Smith joins the team from Felt-Colbournes Racing Team. Lee has enjoyed a successful amateur cycling career to-date and will be an invaluable boost to the road team.
Last but not least of the new additions, is former Madison Genesis rider Chris Snook. In addition to being strong cyclist on the road, Chris also works in the cycle trade as a PR Manager and is well known and connected within the industry.
Team manager Cameron Fraser had this to say of the teams’ performance in 2014 – “When we measure performance and success, we look at how well we have promoted our partners and sponsors but also how we have delivered the message to the growing cycling fan base that is it possible to juggle a busy work/life balance yet still compete at a high level”.
“We remain the only team whose ethos is not focussed on delivering individual results but to promote cycle sport as a fun and safe activity to those who may be inspired by our various outings on the road, track and sportives. When I look back at 2014, we have had a hugely successful seasonâ€.
Nuun-Sigma Sport-London have had a good number of individual results in 2014 with James Holland-Leader crowned World Masters Team Pursuit champion, UK Masters scratch race champion and bronze medal in the European Stayer championships. Symon Lewis teamed up with Felix English to win the prestigious Dave Creasey Memorial Six Day madison event in September plus the track team of Lewis, George Gori, Tony Lock and Cameron Fraser dominating various open track meetings.
“We have always been quite strong on the track scene given the racing pedigree of our line-up†says team manager Fraser. “But core to our plans for 2015 is the desire to gain more exposure on the road, circuit and criterium scene in the UK. Since these events now attract large crowds and even TV coverage our aim is to be making good appearances at these events as well as at the major national and international track meetings. In order achieve our goals next year we have strengthened the team with four new signingsâ€.
“The single best thing about the Nuun-Sigma Sport-London team is that we are all good friends based in or around London, we like to train and race hard but you won’t find us too far away from a good pub†says Fraser. As well as concentrating on the various National Track Championships, the team will also focus on National A and B road races, international track events, town centre based criteriums as well as participating in a variety of non-competitive events.
