Photo Album – World Cup Cyclo-Cross: Harris Second at Koksijde

Britain’s Nikki Harris is second in the World Cup race at Koksijde in Belgium with Helen Wyman 4th and Gabby Day 10th.

Nikki Harris followed up her Bronze medal in the Europeans with a great second place in the Koksijde World Cup event. Nikki finished second to American champion Katie Compton who increased her lead in the World Cup with a decisive win.

British and European Champion Helen Wyman got a great start to lead the way but was soon passed by Belgian champion Sanne Cant. The favourites were starting to find their rightful place in the race and both Nikki Harris and Katie Compton soon moved up to the front of the race.

Harris did her best to stay in touch with Compton whilst trying to keep something back so she didn’t blow her doors off. Riding alone in second did give her the opportunity to choose the best lines and maintain her position in the race while Wyman was in a group with Belgian Cant, and Dutch girl Sanne Van Paassen who was second to Wyman in the Ipswich Euros.

While Cant went on to take third place, Wyman managed to slip away from Van Paassen to finish 5th.
