The latest round of the Brooks Cycles Track league took place on Thursday 26th June 2014 at the Lyme Valley Velodrome, Newcastle under Lyme ,Staffs.

The best attended league group was the B Class with 18 riders competing. Joe Pattison ( Lyme RC) competed for the first time this year after previously concentrating on his exams and showed he has good form in winning the opening 8 lap scratch. He then backed this up in winning the points race and placing second in the win and out behind Andy Jackson ( Moda RT). Andy also had a good night as he won the final 10 mile event for the B class riders.

The A Class endurance saw Jacob Booth ( Dave Hinde RT) have a good night as he won the 10 lap scratch and the devil. Alex Braybrooke ( Velocity WD40) rode an aggressive race to take a fine win in the 12 lap points race. The final 10 mile race saw four riders break away from the main group to contest the finish. As three of the riders looked at each other Will Perrett ( Heanor Clarion) jumped away to take a good win.

The A Class sprint events was down on numbers this week due to at least 10 regulars down at the National Masters Championships in Newport. However the two main rivals for the title had a close battle with Thomas Rotherham ( Sportcity Velo) winning one of the sprint finals and Sean Mayer (Swinnerton Cycles ) the other.

Sean’s team of Lauren Quenby ( Swinnerton Cycles) and Lauren Davies ( Leicestershire RC) won the Team sprint. The Neil Potter 500m Handicap League saw a great finish with a mass dash for the line. Long marker Lauren Davies too the win from Rhian Putt with Thomas Rotherham close behind.

The Youth events saw 14 riders compete with all putting in some impressive performances with plenty of close finishes to test the judges. Brandon Fraser- Thomson ( Eastlands Velo ) won the opening block Handicap followed by Caleb Hill ( Lyme RC) taking the devil. The team sprint was a close affair with the back straight team taking the win.Liam Davies ( Leicestershire RC ) won the final race of the night in the 6 lap scratch.

The freewheelers races were a Go ride Night with medals handed out for the first three in each group and also plenty of goodies for all that took part courtesy of British Cyclings Go ride Scheme. The top points scorers in each group were as follows;
