With wife & kids watching, Mark Cavendish picked himself up off the deck to finish the night at Gent leading with Iljo Keisse who have less points than 2nd placed De Buyst and De Ketele but are a lap up.

The Omega Pharma – Quick-Step duo will go into the final day after a few big fifth day moments on Saturday. Cavendish & Keisse won the first Madison while Mark Cavendish also won the second Derny race. Because they surpassed 300 points, they also earned a lap on their competitors but finished the night 48 points adrit of De Buyst and De Ketele with Leif Lampater – Silvan Dillier in third on 272 points.

Jasper de Buyst and Kenny De Ketele are quite close to a new bonus round (400 points) and could take over the lead again. “If the favorites took a little look at each other … I would sometimes dare to attack,” grinned Leif Lampater, last year’s overall winner with Jasper de Buyst. The final night looks like being a real nail biting finish!
