History made at new Wheal Jane circuit on April 2nd

History was made in Cornwall at the new Wheal Jane circuit, by Jenny Corser Mid Devon CC, Alex Platt Bikechain-Ricci and Ashley Fletcher Southfork Racing Co.uk .They became the first ever adult winner on the new Wheal Jane Cycle circuit. Under blues skies and warm sunshine the three races were all competitive and exciting.

The women’s race split quickly in too two groups which battled throughout the race. With the two Mid Devon riders Jenny Corser and Juliet Elliott finishing 1st and 2nd. Lucy Monk Exeter Wheeler rounded out the podium which was remarkable as she only entered the event at 23.38 on Saturday night.

Alex Platt Bikechain-Ricci proved too strong for the large cat 4 field. The points gained shifted him to third cat so he entered the cat 2/3 where he gained a further 3 points. A total of 13 for the day so a great days racing for him.. Alex was followed over the line by Simon Szender in his first complete race. He is unattached someone should snap him up. Micheal Hoare UPC Rockets and Rascals filled the last step on the podium.

This great days racing followed the youth racing on Saturday 1st. The Wheal Jane circuit is the result of the cycling community supporting a Crowdfunding scheme to the tune of £17000. There is still work to do but we are under way and with the support of SW riders we will be able to put on a more ambitious programme in 2018.
2017 further dates are 7th May and 16th July
