All the startlists in PDF Form
WHERE – Saltburn (North Yorkshire)
WHEN – June 23 (Sunday), Starts 13:30pm
HOW LONG – 7 Laps/181km
As ever at the British Road Race championships, it is a stacked line up and the rider list includes many a WorldTour pro taking on the domestic riders. Luke Rowe will be competing in his final national road race championship of a long careerand will be joined by two-time national champion Ben Swift, 2018 national champion Connor Swift, 2019 under-23 champion Ethan Hayter, Leo Hayter, Ben Turner and Josh Tarling. And thats just Ineos riders!
The start list includes last years winner Fred Wright who doesnt’ look like he’s going to be in Saltbur. Over on instagram, Fred says “I’m definitely going to miss the stripes! Dauphine in the legs and my last race in this lovely kit for the year 🥲 Survived the slip and slide crash on stage 5 and some savage days in the mountains, next up some more altitude before the big one” (Tour de France).
Other riders from last year’s podium, James Knox and Stephen Williams, feature on the start list. Williams has had a stellar year, having been crowned the first British men’s winner of La Fleche Wallonne in April, and also won the Santos Tour Down Under in January. He will certainly be one of the main contenders at this year’s national championships.
Back-to-back winner of the under-23 race, Sam Watson who is also doing great in Europe, will be joined by Groupama-FDJ teammates Lewis Askey and Matt Walls, EF Education – EasyPost riders Owain Doull, James Shaw and Lukas Nerurkar, and Team Visma Lease a Bike’s Ben Tullet and Thomas Gloag. There will be a total of 13 riders on the start list from British UCI Continental team Saint Piran, including Alex Richardson, who was third behind Mark Cavendish and Watson in 2022.
Any rider more than 6mins behind at start of laps 2-3 , 8mins behind at the start of laps 4-5 or 10mins behind at the start of laps 6-7 will be black flagged at the finish line. A second cut off location will also be in place in the Village of Boosbeck.
