Simon Wilson solo’d to his second victory in this classic race, the first Northern road race of 2025. Hot on his heels was Sam Walsham crossing the line just ahead of Cai Curtis-Roberts. Special mention to Jake Edwards who was out front for ages on his own, picking up prime after prime, and looking like the winner until on the last lap, after 45 minutes alone, he blew his doors off and was caught by Simon Wilson and others.

The winner, Simon Wilson, first vet too, started in the 2nd cat group and went solo from them chasing Jake Edwards until he caught him and went full gas to the finish and held on by a handful of seconds to the fast finishing Sam Walsham who started in the scratch group (last group off) and so was the fastest rider in the race as that group caught all but Wilson on that final lap. Young Cai Curtis-Roberts was on Walsham’s wheel and third. Cai started in the same group as Simon Wilson.
