BMCR REPORT/RESULTS: 2025 BMCR National Circuit Championships for E+ Men and Women -W40+, W50+ and W60+ categories — Sunday 21 September, Colchester Sports Park the venue for this years British Masters Cycling Championships for men over 60 and Women over 40, three races which resulted in eight new national champions being presented with their medals and championship jerseys, 69 riders too to the line for the three races travelling from all over the UK and one coming from their home in France to compete, it really was a collection of the best of the class eager to get the championship jerseys.

Again this event was lucky with the weather as the sun broke through the clouds to provide the riders a great experience on the custom built cycle track at Colchester Sports Park, some local riders were to hold the upper hand with their knowledge and experience of the flow and corners on what is fast racing circuit.

Spectators were vocal in their support of their riders and for all winneerrs and medallists on the podium and outnumbering the riders as families, friends and team supporters made their support and encouragement heard! The event was promoted by the Chelmsford based API- Anglia Sport Team who have promoted races in the region for many years, the last time it was a national championship was in 1981, so the team were keen to put on a good show, with all the team turning out to help make the event a success in their distinctive green, red and white jerseys.
With over £3,500 worth of prizes donated by generous local and national sponsors the team are able to promote what is now recognised as one of the top events on the country.

The winners on the day ranged from the youngest category of men with Rob O’Connor from Rugby at 61 in the 60+ category to Ray Batsford from London the 82 year old winner of the 80+ category, from the women the youngest winner was Alison Fovargue in the 40+ category and the oldest was in 60+ category with 62 year old Liz Halliday from Sussex taking the title, all showing age is surely just a number.

Race Director Kevin Hickman said after the event, he was humbled by the support given from so many wonderful sponsors who were keen to support such an event, and the with race crew support from API Anglia Sport, friends and family coming together on the day to make the event a great success, as an organiser you always want the race to be safe and enjoyable for riders and spectators, this circuit here at Colchester is a perfect venue that enables that to happen.

API Anglia Sport team owner and director Andy Palmer said it was a proud day for the team to promote the National Championships and see such great racing and so many people happy racing competitively in a safe environment on a great circuit and noted some great performances over all three races, Awards were presented by former Professional and Olympians Ian Banbury and Dave LeGrys
