Winner of two stages in the Etoile Besseges including the final stage time trial, World TT Champion Filippo Ganna is pleased with the form and takes it to the UAE Tour where he says Adam Yates will lead the Ineos team

“It’s been an amazing week” said the World Time Trial Champion who won two stages in a row at Besseges. “We have finished with two victories in five days, and Kwiato finished on the podium. It makes us want to dream even bigger”.

As the reigning world time trial champion, Ganna was of course the favorite for the win in Alès. “The final climb was especially important. That really hurt the legs”.

“This victory is an important one for me. I am mainly thinking about recovery now. I have about a week and a half before I return to this level, or perhaps a higher level and I hope to arrive even better in future races. This start of the season is really good for morale,” he says afterwards. “We did some really good training over the winter to arrive here in good shape. The team is happy and I’m happy to continue like this.

“After yesterday my legs were painful but the dream to win again is much bigger than any pain. Now we’ll look ahead to the UAE Tour where there is a time trial on the program. We will especially support Adam Yates there, because he is the leader there.”

Adam won the shortened UAE Tour last year.
