Alex writes on Instagram “Well what an amazing 10 years that was, racing my bike comes to an end here and what a privilege it’s been. There really is no feeling like it. Elite sport has given me invaluable life experience and I’ve been lucky to meet some amazing people along the way.

The biggest lesson I’ve learnt is you can do pretty much whatever you set out to. Don’t let anyone tell you, “you can’t” or “that’s not possible”. If thats something you need to do, you go for it and don’t let anything get in the way, that’s your vision. Words wont describe the inspiration I felt at 25 watching Brad Wiggins in those rapha years, the feeling so raw. Can do mindset is everything, application, perseverance, self-belief, process and immersing yourself with the right people are the key ingredients to achieving your goals.

For the past six months I’ve been transitioning into financial services with JP Morgan and committed to my next chapter. I’m excited for the immediate and longer term future, both for myself and my family. I’m looking forward to the continued challenge and grateful for the opportunity.

Lastly, I would like thank all of those who have been there along the way, there are so many. Sport is pure, the amount of interested and passionate people that love cycling is incredible, it’s special. Chiara Richardson thank you for being there everyday, you’re a rock and our infrastructure. Our journey continues and it’s only getting better.
