BMCR Event: National Championship
BMCR EVENTS: Sunday, 21 September — BMCR 2025 National Circuit Championships E+ and Women 40/50/60+
API-Anglia Sport, Metrow Foods, and BodybyJR are pleased to announce their promotion of the BMCR 2025 National Circuit Championships for Men 60+ and Women 40+, 50+, and 60+. This event will be held at Colchester Sports Park on September 21st, where eight new National Champions will be recognised for their achievements.
API – Anglia Sport promotes the annual Criterium des Vainqueurs, an end of season criterium event with a history of participants from the UK, Belgium, Holland, and Poland. For many years, this event has been part of the national cycling calendar, previously requiring all riders to have achieved a win that year.
In 1981, it was held as the British National Championships and won by Mark Bell. The race has historically attracted both domestic and international riders and has been hosted at various venues, including Colchester Barracks. This year, the event returns as a National Championship at the Colchester Sports Park Cycle Circuit: https://colchestersportspark.co.uk/cycle-track/. Organised by API-Anglia Sport under the BMCR banner, the entry requirement for previous wins is no longer in place, and riders from across the UK will participate in all categories.
Last years winner of the Criterium des Vainqueurs Deano Sibthorpe riding for Echelon Cycles will be back to defend his title, on his victory last year he had this to say:-
‘What a thoroughly enjoyable race and the perfect end to my 2024 Season. A big thank you to all the API team and the many sponsors. An extremely well run event and a fantastic venue to boot. It’s a wonderful Sports facility they have in Colchester, one of the best I’ve been to. The prizes were amazing, I could just about fit them all on my kitchen table when I got home. I would thoroughly recommend all BMCR riders to enter this event next year. I still can’t get over that my name will go on the trophy near to Malcolm Elliot’s, and also other stars from the past like Simon Lillistone, Phil Rayner and Mark Bell to name just a few! I feel very honoured’
Event format.
This year, the first event of the day retains the Criterium des Vainqueurs title, further races honour late former API-Anglia Sport teammates Mick Bath and Simon Hook , and recognise our long-time supporter of women’s racing N.Shelley of Billericay.
